DBT Retreats

The DBT Intensive Retreat is a comprehensive, week-long training program designed for mental health professionals seeking advanced, practice-focused immersion in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Across six deeply experiential training days, participants strengthen their DBT formulation skills, enhance adherence, and build confidence in delivering DBT with individuals, families, and complex presentations.

Set within the restorative environment of WISE Mind Retreats in Phuket, the program integrates structured teaching, experiential skills practice, case discussion, and wellness activities to support both professional growth and personal grounding. Ideal for clinicians wanting to deepen their DBT understanding or consolidate previous training, this retreat offers the rare opportunity to step out of everyday demands, focus intensively on learning, and return to practice with clarity, confidence, and renewed energy.

The DBT Professional Development retreat is held at Patong Rai Rom Yen Resort. The resort offers a calm, quiet environment that allows participants to step back from everyday pressures and fully immerse in learning, reflection, and skills development. Its location—close enough to access Patong’s conveniences yet far enough from the noise—creates an ideal balance of tranquillity, affordability, and accessibility, making high-quality professional training more inclusive and sustainable for attendees. For participants seeking a more luxurious accommodation, alternative options are available.

Who is this retreat for?

Mental health professionals who seek:
  • to deepen their skills!
  • to strengthen adherence!
  • to transform clinical confidence!
The DBT Intensive Training Retreat is designed for mental health professionals who have completed foundational DBT training and are seeking to consolidate and advance their clinical practice. It is particularly suited to clinicians who want to move beyond theory and strengthen their confidence in delivering DBT with fidelity in real-world settings.

This retreat is appropriate for:
  • Psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health nurses, counsellors, and allied health professionals
  • Clinicians who have completed DBT Essentials or equivalent introductory DBT training
  • Practitioners currently delivering, or preparing to deliver, individual DBT therapy, DBT skills groups, or comprehensive DBT programs
  • Clinicians seeking structured practice, feedback, and consultation to improve adherence to the DBT model
  • Teams or individuals looking to strengthen skills in behavioural chain analysis, skills coaching, validation, and dialectical strategies
  • Practitioners working with high-risk, emotionally dysregulated, or complex presentations (e.g. suicidality, self-harm, personality disorders, complex trauma)

The retreat is not an introductory DBT course. It is intended for clinicians who already have a working knowledge of DBT and are ready to engage in intensive experiential learning, supervised practice, and consultation-team processes delivered by Dr. Peter King from the Asia Pacific DBT Institute.
